Yolanda Calzada Baños

Upon finishing my degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Barcelona, I specialised in Pediatrics and Specific Areas (2009-2013) at the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital. I also trained at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at SJD, where I carried out both healthcare and teaching activities (2013-2016). I combined this role with that of Associate Consultant in the Pediatric Nephrology Department from July 2015 until 2017, when I moved to this role exclusively. 

I have specialised in handling children and adolescents with acute kidney damage; intensive nephrology; patients with advanced chronic kidney disease; and in particular, pediatric kidney transplant. Since September 2020, I have also held the position of Healthcare Coordinator and reference consultant on the Nephrology ward. I have filled the role of instructor on various specialised courses on Pediatric Nephrology, Therapeutic Apheresis and Pediatric kidney transplant, as well as teaching on the Master’s in Pediatric Nephrology at the University of Barcelona. There are several work groups and scientific boards that I am part of, such as Proyecto Prometeo 2 (concerning Kidney Transplantation, organised by the Spanish Society of Transplantation [SET]), as well as the Advisory Committee of the Catalan Transplant Organisation (OCATT).
