I like to see sports nutrition as a tool for achieving athletes’ targets, as it makes nutritional education a priority that provides them with essential knowledge for keeping to a balanced, healthy diet that allows them to play sports and lead a better way of life.
Diet plays a very important role in physical performance. Therefore, my dietary goals are to assess sportspeople’s circumstances, advise them and design nutritional guidelines that cover their energy requirements, whilst promoting and improving health and sports performance.
I love a number of areas in sports nutrition, such as nutrition in women’s sport and energy availability, as well as the overall health of athletes, which covers aspects such as physical health, emotional well-being, gut and microbiota health, rest and the quality of sleep, handling stress, invisible training and muscle fitness.
