For residents outside Spain, the Hospital has a private and international medical service.
Before arranging an appointment at SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital, our medical team must assess the case. To do this, the Healthcare for international patients form must be completed.
Our International Patients Department will contact you to ask for the current medical report and additional tests (imaging, analyses, etc.) You may also send us any audiovisual document (photo or video) that shows the patient's current condition.
It is very important that the reports and test results are recent for our specialists to appropriately assess each case.
At SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital, we try to minimise unnecessary tests and tests that may impact the patient's health condition. However, depending on the quality and resolution of the tests provided, our specialists may find it necessary to repeat tests with more precise and reliable technology.
Tests will only be performed under the instruction of medical professionals at SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital.
Hospitalisation is not compulsory to make a diagnosis. At SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital, we try to minimise the days when admitted and promote outpatient treatment. This is to prevent infections in patients with a weakened immune system and empower patients to handle the process with their families.
Following evaluation by our medical team, which may take between three and five days, we will send you a detailed treatment proposal and an economic assessment (medical care not covered by public health in Spain). We do not send standard proposals.
Our specialists in different paediatric and obstetric disciplines provide multidisciplinary guidance for each patient's case. Our specialists study each case in order to prepare a detailed treatment proposal. If necessary, a multidisciplinary team assesses the patient's situation.
