I graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Universidad de Valladolid in 1991. Shortly after that, I completed my training in Neurosurgery at the Hospital Ramón y Cajal de Madrid, and obtained a doctorate in Medicine from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
I have worked mainly in the field of paediatric neurosurgery, initially at the Hospital 12 de Octubre as head of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Department, and subsequently as Head of the Neurosurgery Department at the Hospital del Niño Jesús (Madrid), before joining the SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital.
Parallel to this, I have also held managerial positions in different national and international scientific societies. More particularly, I was the President of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery (SENEP), Secretary and Treasurer of the Spanish Society of Neurosurgery (SENEC), and later as the Scientific Chairman of the European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ESPN), among others.
I divide my free time between my family and my hobbies. I am passionate about classical music, mountain activities and diving. The pediatric neurosurgery discipline has appealed to me since I started my career. I believe that working in this field is about serving both children (our patients) and their families.
