Alejandro Manzanares Quintela

I trained in paediatric surgery at SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital between 2009 and 2014. I maintained my links with the Hospital and the Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu doing research on the development of treatments for paediatric cancer. This dual relationship allowed me to obtain my PhD from the Universitat de Barcelona in 2020. Between 2016 and 2023 I worked at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, dedicating myself from the beginning to the treatment of different orofacial malformations, the pinna, the diagnosis and treatment of vascular anomalies and congenital or acquired soft tissue defects. I have also participated in accompanying and informing families diagnosed with any of these situations during pregnancy.

I rejoined Sant Joan de Déu in 2024, in the Paediatric Plastic Surgery Unit, to continue caring for patients in the area, accompanying their families, researching and innovating to expand knowledge and improve treatments.

• Member of the European Reference Network for Craniofacial Pathologies (ERN-Cranio) since 2024.
• Solidarity surgery programmes for patients with cleft lip and palate and their sequelae, and patients with sequelae of severe burns in Peru and Guinea Bissau.
