By joining this platform, the centre is consolidating its position in Europe in the field of neuroscience and the study of the human brain.
The Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD) is a part of the European EBRAINS platform and is consolidating its position in Europe in the field of neuroscience and the study of the human brain.
The EBRAINS platform is a digital research infrastructure created by the Human Brain Project (HBP) and cofunded by the European Union that brings together a wide array of data and tools for brain research.
The incorporation of IRSJD in this platform enables it to contribute its unique experience in paediatric and foetal medicine and will offer the opportunity to forge new alliances to collaborate and participate in the development of new projects.
In the field of diagnostic imaging, IRSJD is making available to the platform a 3 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging scanner, a medical image processing laboratory capable of performing quantitation, radiomics and applying artificial intelligence algorithms, and a cloud-based biobank of images, which currently includes in particular the collection of paediatric cerebral vascular images.
The Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute brings to the platform its collection of neurological tissue samples from SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital's Paediatric Biobank and the Neurological Tissues Biobank of Sant Joan de Déu Health Park.
