The International Adoption Unit is a private service with a multidisciplinary team, led by Dr Vicky Fumadó Pérez, offering diagnoses, assessments and consultation services to parents.
We are with you at every step of the adoption process.
1. Pre-adoption consultation
During the adoption process, our team helps families to understand the child's medical information, the medical precautions to be taken when travelling to the country to collect their child, which factors should be taken into account when caring for the child once they are in the parents’ care, and how to handle any adaptation difficulties that may arise.
2. Medical examination and diagnosis of adopted children upon arrival to the country
One in ten adopted children has mental and/or physical health problems that are unknown prior to adoption. Our team perform a complete medical exam on the child to diagnose and provide early treatment for mental and/or physical health issues that may be present, and assist in the child's emotional and social adaptation to the new family.
3. Post-adoption follow-up
We will be there to provide both families and children with the support they need in the years after adoption.
