Over 300 researchers and healthcare professionals work at the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital. For the most part, their tireless work is supported by the economic contributions of hundreds of families who raise money to find cures for the illness their children currently, or used to, suffer from.
A long-distance marathon
Knowing everything about a disease, from its origins to how it progresses, is the main aspiration of researchers and healthcare staff. Finding a cure is a dream that can only be achieved through ongoing research and investigation.
Research is a long-distance marathon. As well as working towards finding a cure, researchers at the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital have the added difficulty of most pediatric diseases being very rare, and therefore difficult to fund research for due to low interest in the topic.
